Dear Friends,

As you can see, FOM has been a large contributor to the advancement of the McCall ministry. Now, the board wishes to undertake our largest project to date. The Nature Study area has been in need of an upgrade for many years. We have an idea of expanding the Nature Study into an interactive tree house. We have some preliminary drawings and are working with engineers and some past top-notch Nature Study leaders to complete our concept. Plain and simple, this is going to take a lot of money and labor. We need your financial help once again. I know the economy is bad and our dollars do not go as far as they once did, but with everyone’s help, this dream can quickly become a reality. Please prayerfully consider making a donation to FOM earmarked for the new Nature Study Project. No gift is too small. We can all combine our few dollars to accomplish this very lofty goal and make the Nature Study an activity everyone will enjoy. Our goal is to raise 50,000 dollars to complete this project.
Thanks in advance for what you will do! Chris “Hawg” Horton 1978-1982

The birthday song was one of my few contributions to camp. Of course I didn't create it. I heard it from a guy at the Baptist Student Union (BSU) at Auburn and knew instantly that it was perfect for camp. The original idea was to sing it very much off key, which was simple for some of us. As time went
by, I had sung it to my sisters for a number of birthdays and they decided to return the favor one early morning while I was living in
Seattle. Well they called around 7:00 EST one
morning, somehow forgetting about the time change…it was 4:00 am in Seattle. They heard the phone ring, a guy pick up and they broke into song. Too bad they dialed a wrong number and woke up some other poor unsuspecting guy in Seattle. He let them get all the way through the song, asked who this was and proceeded, sleepily, to politely tell them that they had the wrong number. They initially laughed a bit at their mistake until they realized the time change and that they had woken him up at 4:00. Now while this guy might not have fully appreciated the words to the song, at least he was able to understand the words (I.e. not too fast). I'm sure he was able to share the general idea of the song with his friends, which would not have been possible with the current staff rendition of the song.

**NOTE** In recent years the Birthday Song has been sped up to the point that one can only make out the word “Birthday”, which leads one to wonder if those singing it really know the words….change!
Where are they now?
